Packeisen Motorsport –
how it used to be and is today

Motorsport boss Ulli Packeisen comes from a family that has been involved in automotive and mechanical engineering for several generations. His grandfather Reinhold Packeisen founded the company together with his brother in 1924. At the same time, Reinhold operated Danzig's first and only bus service, building all the vehicles in his own company. The factory was destroyed in the Second World War, leaving Ulli's father, Reinhold senior, to rebuild the company in Wuppertal, with the focus on carrying out repairs to cars and trucks. The company was later expanded by the addition of a filling station, a workshop and a further car dealership. Apart from dealing in cars of various brands, Reinhold Packeisen senior was a passionate motorsport enthusiast. His motorsport career began in motocross in the 1950s, riding an NSU Max. At the end of the 60s, he took part in various rallies (Akropolis,1000 Lakes, Monte Carlo, Germany) before changing to circuit racing in the 1970s. He retired from motor racing in 1984.

Having already established itself as a leading motor racing team in the 1960s, the team was joined in the 1970s by further team members with many years of experience in engineering and organisation. When graduate engineer and master mechanic Ulli Packeisen began his motor racing career in 1984, the motorsport objectives were revised and adapted.

Even during the 80s and 90s, the new team was frequently among the top ten in various racing series, and was increasingly making a name for itself with its successes. In keeping with the team's motto "If you don't go forward you go backwards", Packeisen Motorsport and its motor-racing team boss raced in cars from Daihatsu, VW, Seat, Porsche, Volvo and, of course, BMW from 1984 to 2008.

The present and future business of Packeisen Motorsport is focused on developing and constructing complete racing cars and motor racing components for customers with its top-quality team. Customer cars and in-house racing cars are also maintained and serviced with the usual high quality, ensuring that they can participate successfully in various endurance series throughout Europe as well as in the German Endurance Championship at the Nürburgring. A third business area is dealing in racing cars and road-going sports cars.
